Frequently Asked Questions

Starting therapy can come with a lot of questions.

This page is here to help you feel more informe and at ease as you consider taking the next step.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people seek support when they’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck. or simply ready for change.

Therapy may be helpful if you are:

  • Feeling anxious, stressed, or emotionally drained

  • Navigating a life transition

  • Processing past experiences

  • Wanting to better understand yourself

  • Struggling in relationships

If something in your life feels “off”, that’s reason enough to reach out.

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to this space, your goals for therapy, and any questions you may have. There’s no pressure to share everything at once- we can go at your pace. My priority is helping you feel comfortable, heard, and supported from the very beginning.

How long are sessions and how often will we meet?

Sessions typically last around 50 minutes, and most clients begin with weekly sessions. As we move forward, we can adjust the frequency and length of sessions based on your needs and goals.

Is therapy confidential?

Your privacy is important to me, and I will keep as much information as I can confidential between us. There are a few legal and insurance exceptions to this (such as imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, or disclosing diagnoses to have insurance pay for your sessions). I’m always happy to explain this in detail during our first session.

Do you accept insurance? What are your fees?

Yes, I accept insurances as listed on my services page including most BCBS plans, Kaiser, FirstChoice, and Lifewise plans. If your insurance plan is not listed, please contact me and we can discuss other options. I charge $150 per 50 minute session, and have sliding scale options for those who need it.

Are you able to see people in-person?

Yes! I recently opened an office in Lynnwood, WA. Reach out if you are interested in starting in-person sessions. Instructions for how to access the building I am in are below.

What is your late cancel/no show policy?

I charge half of a full session fee if you late cancel or do not notify me before a session that you are unable to make it. I do allow for one waived no show per calendar year, as well as on a case by case basis for illness or emergencies. If you are able to reschedule within the week, I will also not charge a fee.
